Hailed as one of the world's greatest live bands, 12-man brass orchestra Fanfare Ciocarlia will bring their unique take on eastern funk grooves melded with ancient Balkan gypsy traditions to Hamer Hall on Tuesday 10 March.

Having learnt their craft at the feet of their fathers and grandfathers in a small village in north-eastern Romania, Fanfare Ciocarlia proudly approach every concert as a challenge to both entertain audiences and keep the true spirit of Gypsy music alive.

Nine albums and 1500 international concerts later, the band has truly been embraced on a global level. Despite only speaking their local Romany dialect, Fanfare Ciocarlia's music has transcended language and their amazing on stage presence has been applauded from Japan to Australia.

Racing at breakneck speed, their ripping rhythms and staccato clarinet, saxophone and trumpet solos present a style of music entirely unique, and that has been described by The Times of London as "a heavy, heavy monster sound".

Celebrated by critics and championed by audiences for their gutsy and versatile live performances, the opportunity to experience the inimitable band live is not to be missed.
