Exclusive Scoop! Disney's ALADDIN Set To Begin Broadway Previews 2/26; New Artwork & Opening InfoBroadwayWorld can now confirm via a group sales ad exclusive news about the highly anticipated upcoming stage adaptation of Disney's beloved modern animated classic ALADDIN including a first chance to check out the new musical before it premieres on Broadway next year.

Previews for Disney's ALADDIN on Broadway begin February 26, 2014, with the production eyeing a March 20, 2014, opening night.

Additionally, group sales are now open for performances February 26 through August 31, 2014.

Check out the new poster art for Disney's ALADDIN, as well, prominently showcasing a predominately purple and gold theme and evoking the iconic image of an otherworldly genie emerging from a magical lamp.

Also, the featured tagline for Disney's ALADDIN - which is now being billed as "Broadway's New Musical Comedy" - is a witty reference to the internationally cherished, Academy Award-winning Alan Menken/Howard Ashman/Tim Rice score - namely the worldwide hit "A Whole New World", of course.

"This Spring, Discover a Whole New World in a Whole New Way," the first promotional advertisement boasts.

The official description of the new stage version of Disney's ALADDIN according to the new ad is as follows: "Disney's new musical comedy ALADDIN brings the classic story from the screen to the stage for a theatrical experience beyond anything you've ever dreamed. With just one rub of a magic lamp, ALADDIN's breathtaking journey sweeps you into an exotic world filled with big laughs, bold adventure and true love."

Disney's ALADDIN features music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Howard Ashman, Tim Rice and Chad Beguelin, with the latter also responsible for the new book of the musical, and features direction and choreography by Casey Nicholaw. The design team for Disney's ALADDIN includes Bob Crowley (Sets), Gregg Barnes (Costumes) and Natasha Katz (Lighting).

Of note, I originally broke the news of the Broadway return of ALADDIN in my InDepth InterView with multi-Oscar-winning composer Alan Menken in 2010. Portions of the conversation follow below:

"PC: I was just talking to Don Hahn about all the great cut songs you wrote with Howard for ALADDIN. Could you tell me about those?

AM: We're getting them back!

PC: How so?

AM: We're doing a stage musical of ALADDIN and all those songs are going to be in it.

AM: Chad Beguelin wrote the book. He did a fantastic job. He and I also wrote a new song that will be going in, along with a lot of the cut Howard Ashman songs and some of the cut Tim Rice songs, and a song that I wrote music and lyrics for that was in the theatrical adaptation at California Adventure.

PC: That's quite a team, then - you, Ashman, Rice, Beguelin! Will it be substantially different from the film?

AM: It has more of the feeling of a Hope & Crosby road picture - which is what Howard and I originally wanted for the musical. We are going to try it out, hopefully, next summer.

PC: Do you have a design team in place yet? It will be especially important for a stage ALADDIN, I would think.

AM: No, not yet.

PC: It has such great possibilities. It should be good!

AM: Let's hope so! Knock on wood. You never know, you never know."
