The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts is proud to welcome the Enchantment Theatre Company's production of The Adventures of Harold and the Purple Crayon to the Merriam Theater on Sunday, April 12 at 2 p.m.

A story time favorite for over 50 years, Enchantment Theatre's innovative production is based on the seven charming picture books by Crockett Johnson that follow the zany adventures of an inventive young boy. The visually dazzling production will take family audiences on a wild ride as Harold jets to Mars, joins a circus, and meets a princess in an enchanted garden.

The Enchantment Theatre Company, one of America's groundbreaking producers of original theater works for families, brings the pages of the storybook to life on stage using all the elements of its well-known signature style (life-size puppets, masked actors and magic music) plus the added new dimension of large scale video animation. Capturing the books' simple purple line drawings perfectly, the staging not only creates Harold's world of make believe, but also provides an opportunity for actors to interact with the setting. In true Enchantment style, the simple purple lines do not stay simple for long!

This popular production delights and amazes audiences from children starting at Harold's age to grandparents whose hearts are young and full of adventure.

Tickets are available from $23-$36. Tickets can be purchased by calling 215-893-1999, online at kimmelcenter.org, at the Kimmel Center box office at Broad & Spruce Streets (open daily 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.).
