Malibu Playhouse kicks off a comedy summer season Saturday July 11, with the one-night benefit performance of "A Man and His Prostate," starring Hollywood legendary actor, Ed Asner. This is the first produced stage play for noted television writer-producer, Ed. Weinberger, who wrote this one-man comedy serving as his new venture into the theatre world. When asked what it was like working with Asner, Weinberger replied, "It's always nice being in the hands of a legend."

Weinberger is perhaps best known for his hit series, "The Cosby Show" and "Taxi." As Executive producer, his numerous series credits include "Amen," "Dear John" and "Sparks." One of MTM Enterprises core founders, Along with other television giants, James L. Brooks, David Davis, Allan Burns and Stan Daniels, Weinberger produced mega hits "Mary Tyler Moore," "Phyllis" and "The Betty White Show" among others, which he also wrote and created.Winning 9 out of 12 Emmy nominations, a Peabody Award, Writers Guild of America Lifetime Achievement Award and 3 Golden Globes, this Philadelphian began his career writing for stand-up comedians including Dick Gregory and Richard Pryor and "The Tonight Show, Starring Johnny Carson."

Ed Asner, winner of 7 Emmy Awards, 5 Golden Globes and multitude of other wins and nominations, is recognized for his 100 plus diverse TV and film credits. Asner is the only actor to win Emmy Awards for playing the same character (Lou Grant) in both a comedy, the iconic "The Mary Tyler Moore Show" and a drama, his own show, "Lou Grant." Asner is also known as the voice of Carl Fredricksen in Pixar's award-winning animated film "Up," the voice of J. Jonah Jameson (editor of The Daily Bugle), in "Spider Man" and as Ben Parker (Peter Parker's uncle) in "The Spectacular Spider-Man."

"A MAN AND HIS PROSTATE" - A man, late in life, discovers his inner self in more ways than one. A near tragedy actually experienced by the writer is masterfully transformed into a comedy by Weinberger and perfectly portrayed by Ed Asner.
