State Theatre Cabaret returns with TWO shows in 2014 and Easton's own Charlie Barnett lends his talents to both. The eclectic jazz band, Chaise Lounge, plays the Acopian Ballroom tonight, February 21st and Barnett once again teams with Gia Mora with Modern Songbook on Friday, March 7th.

Show time for both shows is 7:00 PM. Tickets are $35 for Chaise Lounge and $30 for Modern Songbook and can be purchased by visiting the State Theatre Box Office, 453 Northampton Street, Easton, by calling 1-800-999-STATE, 610-252-3132 or online at www.statetheatre.org. Both shows will have shared table seating with a cash bar and light faire available throughout the performance.

Chaise Lounge performs a blend of music that sounds like it was recorded at Capitol Recording Studios in 1962 and somehow found its way to today's pop charts. It is the combination of five of the Washington area's top jazz musicians playing sparkling arrangements of standards and original tunes and featuring the soft, luminous vocals of Marilyn Older.

As a songwriter, Marilyn Older, has contributed songs to Chaise Lounge's first CD, The Early Years and to a number of independent feature films and has performed with a variety of bands. She was nominated for the 2009 Wammies as one of Washington DC's best jazz vocalists. Along with Charlie Barnett, accompanying Marilyn Order will be Tommy Barrick, Gary Gregg, Joe Jackson and Pete Ostle, some of the best musicians - jazz or otherwise - in the business.

This will be Charlie Barnett's second trip to the State Theatre this season as he accompanied Gia Mora during Einstein's Girl in October. He will make a third trip, returning with Miz Mora on Friday, March 7th for their new show, Modern Songbook. Like the great writers of the 20th century, Charlie's compositions tell stories, and no performer can tell a story like Gia Mora. Enjoy classic tunes and hear soon-to-be new favorites in this delightful evening in the Acopian Ballroom.

Charlie Barnett returns to his hometown of Easton, PA, where he excelled as a swimmer in high school. He held a school swimming record for a number of years until it was broken just last year. A popular award-winning American composer, performer, and producer, Charlie Barnett is also the owner of Modern Songbook Records.
