Tim Burton's classic Gothic fairy tale, Edward Scissorhands is now on stage! Opening June 25th at the Bayard Studio Theater in Williamsburg Brooklyn for 10 performance nights only, The Brooklyn Studio Lab is proud to present the World Premiere of Edward Scissorhands: The Stage Adaptation, Directed by Richard Crawford. Edward Scissorhands will be presented at the Bayard Studio Theatre from June 25th through July 3rd at 98 Bayard Street in Williamsburg Brooklyn.

With all the buzz surrounding Tim Burton's latest adaptation of Alice in Wonderland and his successful exhibition at MoMA, the show could not come at a better time. Not to be confused with Matthew Bourne's ballet version of the dark fairy tale, Richard Crawford aims to tell the story in its purest form, reminding audience members about lost innocence, pure love and the power of evil.

Edward Scissorhands is a story about a man who was created by a mad inventor in a castle overlooking the perfect rockwellian suburban hamlet. Unfortunately, Edward's creator dies before he is able to finish what he set out to accomplish. Edward is left alone, isolated from the outside world with blades for fingers. Eventually Edward meets a door to door make-up sales woman, who decides to take him home to live with her family in the town below.

Richard Crawford is an up and coming UK based director whose previous work includes Evanescent and Filthy McNasty presents Dick Biscuit. The producers of Edward Scissorhands the play were searching for the perfect director when they came across Richard after his success with Evanescent. He was handed an envelope with the stage version of the script and a typed up letter stating their interests in him as a director for the show because of his "dark nature and ability to make people uncomfortable."

Richard Crawford chose the Bayard Studio Theater in Williamsburg for a reason: "I chose the venue as it is a very unique experience. When you come in there is live music, you get your own candle lit table...you can smoke and drink. It's reminiscent of a Parisian speakeasy..."

Produced by The Brooklyn Studio Lab and directed by Richard Crawford, the show promises to be an unmissable treat for avid fans of Tim Burton's gothic fairytale. Edward Scissorhands: The Stage Adaptation schedule is as follows: Friday June 25th, 7:00pm; Saturday June 26th, 7:00pm; Monday June 28th, 7:00pm; Tuesday June 29th, 7:00pm; Wednesday June 30th, Matinee 1:00pm - Evening, 7:00pm; Thursday July 1st, 7:00pm; Friday July 2nd, 7:00pm; Saturday July 3rd, Matinee 1:00pm - Evening, 7:00pm.
