The Nualas were regulars at the Edinburgh Fringe until 2001. After a 13-year break they have unleashed their musical comedy on the festival again.

The Nualas are three women called Nuala from a small town in western Ireland where all the girls are named Nuala and the boys are called Finton. The concept of the show is kind of to catch the audience up with what they've been doing since they last performed here. Unfortunately, it hasn't been going well and due to bad investments and failed businesses they admit to reforming for the money.

The musical comedy is excellent and the vocal harmonies are amazing. The delivery is perhaps what makes it so entertaining, The Nualas remain completely deadpan while the audience are in stitches. A particular favourite of mine was their song inspired by 50 Shades of Gray which includes a line about "legs still smarting from the George Foreman grill".

The Nualas round things off with a traditional irish ballad (that they wrote themselves) which is absolutely stunning...providing you don't listen to the actual words. As I mentioned earlier the harmonies are excellent and the final song manages be both absolutely gorgeous and utterly disgusting. It was an older crowd for The Nualas and I'm assuming that it was mostly people who remember them from the first time around. The material is fresh and funny and I think would translate well to any audience.

Hello Again, We're The Nualas runs at Assembly Studios until August 25th.
