Don Omar, Jenni Rivera Are Top Winners at 2013 BILLBOARD LATIN MUSIC AWARDS

From the mesmerizing glamour of the red carpet to spectacular performances and heartfelt acceptance speeches, the 2013 Billboard Latin Music Awards, presented by State Farm and produced and broadcast by Telemundo, celebrated the best in Latin music reaching millions of viewers in the US and around the world. Music fans enjoyed an event packed with memorable moments and Unforgettable musical acts. Top honors at the longest-running and most prestigious Latin music awards show went to music phenomenon and social media maven Don Omar who received ten Billboard Latin Music Awards, including Airplay Song of the Year, and Digital Song of the Year.

The late Mexican regional superstar Jenni Rivera was honored posthumously with six awards including Artist of the Year; while singer/songwriter Prince Royce received four trophies including Albums Artist of the Year, Male. Winners of three awards include Shakira, La Arrolladora Banda el Limon de Rene Camacho, Natty Natasha and Romeo Santos, who was also the recipient of Telemundo's fan-voter award "Premio Tu Mundo." Industry awards for the leading labels and publishing companies of the year were given out last night at the Billboard Bash. On Saturday, April 27th at 8PM/7c, Telemundo will offer viewers a backstage pass during the special "Billboard Extra," a VIP pass which will spotlight what really happens on and off-stage during the production of the Billboard Latin Music Awards. HostRashel Diaz, joined by a star-studded team of correspondents, including Mexican singer and Latin Grammy Award Winner Ana Barbara and Fashionista Kika Rocha, take viewers behind the scenes during rehearsals, backstage during the show and inside the glamorous after-party for priceless moments not seen anywhere else. The three-hour show featured performances by renowned names in Latin music, including: Maná, Draco Rosa, Marc Anthony, Paulina Rubio, Daddy Yankee, Roberto Tapia, Romeo Santos, Tito El Bambino, Juan Luis Guerra, La Arrolladora Banda el Limon de Rene Camacho, Carlos Vives, Gerardo Ortiz, Juan Rivera, Michel Telo, Il Volo, Wisin y Yandel, and Don Omar who performed "Zumba." Following the Billboard Latin Music Awards' tradition of launching worldwide television premieres and showcasing unique never-before-seen performances, Marc Anthony premiered his new song "Vivir Mi Vida" and was then joined by Tito "El Bambino" to sing "Por Que Les Mientes," Mana and Draco Rosa performed "Penelope," Juan Luis Guerrawith Romeo Santos interpreted "Frio, Frio," Carlos Vives with Michel Telo sang "Como Le Gusta a Tu Cuerpo," and Roberto Tapia debuted "Que Raro se Siente Todo." Renowned actor Edward James Olmos introduced an emotional tribute to the late music star Jenni Rivera, with her brother, Juan Rivera, singing "Y No Llega Al Olvido." The musical extravaganza was hosted by Regional Mexican artist Ana Barbara, beloved telenovela leading man, Juan Soler and accomplished TV personality, Daniel Sarcos.

Maná, the most influential Spanish rock band of all time, received the Billboard Spirit of Hope Award in recognition of their environmental conservation and social development efforts supported through their non-profit organization Fundacion Selva Negra (Black Forest Foundation). Renowned Mexican icon Jose Jose, affably called the "Prince of Song," was awarded the Billboard Lifetime Achievement Award for a successful career that spans 50 years, and which has contributed to the development and expansion of Latin music around the globe.

The Billboard Latin Music Awards, the longest running and most prestigious awards show in the Latin music world, honors the most popular albums, songs, and performers in Latin music, as determined by the actual sales, radio airplay, streaming and social data that informs Billboard's weekly charts.
