HamletGhosts, a devised piece that explores modern-day conceptions of Shakespeare, theatre, and pop culture, will be performed this fall at Dixon Place as a work-in-progress, following its initial workshop presentation by The Brewing Dept. last May.

Through a series of vignettes, the cast of HamletGhosts looks at Shakespeare's Hamlet and then makes something else. Director Cody Holliday Haefner's radical vision examines the legacy of Shakespeare in our society, mixing Hamlet with Lady Gaga, Yahoo answers, and personal narratives in a piece that forces the audience to question their own complicity in the acts of madness and violence played out in front of them.

HamletGhosts was initially presented as part of The Brewing Dept.'s The May Event, a series of performances designed to provide artists with feedback and bring their work to the next level. The creators are thrilled to be taking this next step in association with Dixon Place, a company known for its incredible work and in particular for its dedication to the artistic development process. This one-night-only event provides audiences with an exclusive chance to see a new devised piece in the midst of the creative process and to contribute through their feedback.
