Disney's FROZEN Shines in Second Week at Box Office with $31.6 Million

Disney's latest animated adventure, FROZEN, lit up the weekend box office during its second outing, taking the top spot with $31.6 million, according to Deadline.

THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE dimmed only slightly, grossing an additional $27 million over the two days. The film, which had earned the number one spot since its initial release three weeks ago, has now taken in over $300 million domestically.

OUT OF THE FURNACE, with Christian Bale and Casey Affleck, rounded out the top three for the weekend, taking in a meager $5.3 million.

Directed by Francis Lawrence, the action, sci-fi drama stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Lenny Kravitz, Elizabeth Banks, Stanley Tucci, Donald Sutherland, Toby Jones, Woody Harrelson, Jena Malone, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Amanda Plummer, Lynn Cohen, Patrick St. Esprit, Meta Golding, Bruno Gunn, Alan Ritchson, E. Roger Mitchell, Maria Howell, Stephanie Leigh Schlund, Sam Claflin, and Jeffrey Wright.

Walt Disney Pictures' FROZEN features the voices of Kristen Bell, Idina Menzel, Jonathan Groff, Santino Fontana and Alan Tudyk and original songs from Tony winner Robert Lopez ("The Book of Mormon," "Avenue Q") and Kristen Anderson-Lopez ("In Transit," "Winnie the Pooh"), and an original score by Christophe Beck ("The Muppets," Oscar-winning short "Paperman").

In the big-screen comedy adventure FROZEN, fearless optimist Anna (voice of Kristen Bell) sets off on an Epic journey--teaming up with rugged mountain man Kristoff (voice of Jonathan Groff) and his loyal reindeer Sven--to find her sister Elsa (voice of Idina Menzel), whose icy powers have trapped the kingdom of Arendelle in eternal winter.
