The Dirty Heads, known for their signature blend of hip hop, reggae and alternative rock, are set to release their first ever entirely acoustic album titled Home - Phantoms of Summer: The Acoustic Sessions today, October 29th, 2013 on Five Seven Music. The self-produced album features eight brand new tracks as well as an acoustic rendition of their single "Cabin By The Sea." The warmth of these songs will carry you through the winter. The band will also head out on a US headlining tour to support the album in October and November.

"The title 'Home - Phantoms of Summer' completes the thematic cycle of our first three EP's and albums. The first was 'Sails to the Wind,' where we were just getting started and taking off, followed by 'Any Port in a Storm' which was us trying to find ourselves sonically and as a band. 'Cabin By the Sea' was a paradise we found and built after the storm. Now we have left that cabin and we are returning home to where we started, as an acoustic act. 'Phantoms of Summer' sums up these songs and this album, which was recorded over the summer, as well as the fact we are never home during summer so WE the Dirty Heads are also the phantoms of summer." - Jared "Dirty J" Watson

When asked about the decision to make an acoustic album, Jared "Dirty J" Watson explains, "We decided to do an acoustic album because we wanted to get back to our roots and really expose our lyrics and voices. Breaking down to acoustic and being raw is very liberating as a songwriter. And the inspiration and vibe of this album is more sexy than anything we've done. We really just went for all vibe and feel."

Formed in 2003 out of Huntington Beach, CA, The Dirty Heads combine an intriguing mix of hip-hop, reggae and alternative rock with a sunny California swagger. The band released their debut album, Any Port In A Storm in September of 2008, which features the hit track "Lay Me Down," a song that spent eleven weeks at #1 on the Billboard alternative chart, more than any single that year by any other artist. It is an RIAA certified gold single. Rolling Stone touted the 'Heads as one of the year's best new bands and they were among the first bands featured on YouTube's Raw Session. The band followed with their sophomore effort Cabin By The Sea last year, which saw three hit singles "Spread Too Thin," "Dance All Night," as well as the album's title track "Cabin By The Sea" which is currently Top 30 at alternative radio. The album featured a number of special guests including Matisyahu, KyMani Marley, and Del the Funky Homosapien; debuted on the Billboard Top 20 and peaking at #8 on iTunes overall music chart, #4 on iTunes Alternative chart and #3 on iTunes Independent chart. In addition to the immense fan devotion, press quickly fell in love with the album with Huffington Post declaring "Summer...officially has its soundtrack" and Diffuser.fm saying "The Dirty Heads have the perfect album to soundtrack all the good times."
