SNAKES ON A PLANE director David R. Ellis has passed away at the age of 60 in Johannesburg, South Africa, Deadline has reported.

The cause of his death is not yet known.

Ellis away from his California home, on location prepping for his upcoming adaptation of the 1998 anime film KITE. The film was set to pair him with SNAKES star Samuel L. Jackson once again.

The actor-turned-stuntman was born on Sept. 10, 1952, in Los Angeles. Throughout his career as a stunt coordinator, he worked on THE MATRIX and the first installment in the HARRY POTTER series. As a director, he helmed such films as FINAL DESTINATION 2 and THE FINAL DESTINATION, ASYLUM, and SNAKES ON A PLANE.
