The New York Times has the first extensive report on Christopher Tierney's condition after an interview with his father. The paper reports that "Tierney sustained a fracture in his skull, a broken scapula, a broken bone close to his elbow, 4 broken ribs, a bruised lung and 3 fractured vertebrae."

He underwent back surgery on Wednesday and took his first steps on Friday with a brace and a walker and is currently in intensive care at Bellevue Hospital Center awaiting word if he can start rehab in New Hampshire.

His father says that he's "cautiously optimistic" that Tierney will eventually resume his performing career as he's got pins and rods in his body and thankfully did not have to have his vertebrae fused. He is hoping to be in the audience for the show's opening night.

All of the new safety procedures that were agreed on have been tested, rehearsed and approved by the production, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, and the New York State Department of Labor and are now in place.

The production's opening night, (previously set for January 11, 2011) is still set to open on Monday, February 7. Directed by Julie Taymor and featuring a book by Julie Taymor and Glen Berger, and new music and lyrics by U2's Bono and The Edge, SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark is now in previews at Broadway's Foxwoods Theatre (213 West 42nd Street).

SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark is the most ambitious production ever undertaken on Broadway as it aims to find fresh ways to tell a story inspired by over 40 years of Marvel comic books. The show follows the story of teenager Peter Parker, whose unremarkable life is turned upside-down when he's bitten by a genetically altered spider and wakes up the next morning clinging to his bedroom ceiling. This bullied science-geek suddenly endowed with incredible powers soon learns, however, that with great power comes great responsibility as villains put both his physical strength and strength of character to the test.

Tickets are priced from $67.50 - $135 for weekday performances and $67.50 - $140 for weekend performances and can be purchased at Ticketmaster.com or by calling (877) 250-2929. Tickets are also available at the Foxwoods Theatre box office Monday through Saturday, 10:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m., and Sunday, 12:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
