Called "one of the two great farces by a living writer" by the New York Times, The Delaware Theatre Company (DTC) continues its 35th Season with Ken Ludwig's hilarious farce LEND ME A TENOR. Doors will slam, tempers will flare, and heads may roll, but laughter and love will prevail.

Winner of 3 Tony Awards and 4 Drama Desk Awards LEND ME A TENOR, set exclusively in a 1930's Cleveland hotel room is complete with mistaken identities, misunderstandings, mixed signals and doors (lots of doors). This raucous farce follows the fiery-tempered, world famous Italian superstar, Tito Merelli (played by John Plumpis), as he arrives in Cleveland to make his debut with the local opera company; then promptly goes missing. As the show's producer (played by Tony Braithwaite) conspires to cover for Tito's absence, placate his hot-blooded wife, and distract his most passionate fans, chaos on a truly operatic level ensues.

"LEND ME A TENOR is the most well constructed farce I've ever read or seen. It is filled with so much comedy in the rhythm of the way Ken Ludwig writes", say DTC Executive Director Bud Martin, "With two rooms, six doors and eight people, you can have unlimited fun and laughs".

Returning to DTC following their performances in the extremely successful production of SOUTH PACIFIC last season are John Plumpis, Jonathan Silver, and Sarah Litzsinger. The cast is rounded out by Eileen Cella (Maggie), Tracie Higgins (Maria), Howie Brown (Bellhop) and Marcia Hepps (Julia).

Originally produced on Broadway by Andrew Lloyd Webber, TENOR was revived in 2010 starring Tony Shalhoub and Justin Bartha, and has proven to be one of the most popular comedies of the past two decades. On London's West End it was nominated for the Olivier Award as Comedy of the Year. On Broadway it was nominated for nine Tony Awards, including Best Play and Best Revival and won two Tonys, four Drama Desk Awards and three Outer Critics Circle Awards. It has been translated into at least twenty languages and produced in over thirty countries around the world.
