Artistic Director, Allan Buchman along with the producers at Culture Project have announced today that the world premiere of MotherStruck! written and performed by Staceyann Chin and directed by Cynthia Nixon, will no longer begin Thursday, September 24 at Culture Project's Lynn Redgrave Theater.

MotherStruck! sets forth Staceyann Chin's personal journey to motherhood as a single woman, lesbian and activist who does not have health insurance or a "serious, stable financial set up," but wants to have a child. Told through Chin's uniquely personal and poetic lens, this solo show explores how the process changed her life and how she makes peace with what she learns from this profound experience.

Statement from Allan Buchman, Artistic Director of Culture Project:

"This is a show I have waited my whole producing career to produce. It gives voice to an important artist, poet, and performer - a black, Chinese woman who is gay and miles from the comforts of white elitism. Ms. Nixon has a probing theatrical intelligence that has prepared Staceyann to convey her perspective in a lively, humorous and touching manner to those individuals most disparately in need of her message. At this point, though, we do not have the resources to produce MotherStruck! in the manner in which it deserves."
