Variety reports that Academy Award-nominee David Strathairn will be replacing Victor Slezak in the Epic Theater Center Production of Zak Berkman's Beauty On The Vine. Strathairn, who previously worked with Epic in a 2004 Off Broadway production of Hannah and Martin, joins cast members Olivia Wilde and Barbara Garrick for the show's final week, May 29-June 3. David Schweizer directs.

Press notes state, "From mixed-race identities to extreme plastic surgery, Beauty On The Vine is a romantic fable about the power of the human face in Lindsay Lohan America.  When a young female star of right-wing radio is brutally murdered, her husband and father investigate the reasons behind the violence.  They discover a world where young women transform themselves to look like their idols and mothers lose their daughters to the illusion of popularity and power.  Beauty On The Vine is a journey through the looking glass into a disturbing Wonderland where appearances are always deceiving."

Strahairn, perhaps best known for his Oscar-nominated role as Edward R. Murrow in Good Night, and Good Luck, has also appeared in films Sneakers, The Firm, L.A. Confidential, and A League of Their Own. A highly respected character actor, he has recently been seen in a recurring role on "The Sopranos." Broadway credits include Salome, Dance of Death, The Three Sisters and Einstein and the Polar Bear.

Beauty On The Vine's Creative Team includes Scenic Design by Narelle Sissons, Lighting Design by Justin Townsend, Sound Design by Ryan Rumery and Costume Design by Gabrielle Berry.

Beauty On The Vine runs at the Clurman Theatre on Theatre Row (410 West 42nd Street) through Sunday, June 3, 2007.  Tickets are $40.00 and are available by calling (212) 279-4200 or through www.ticketcentral.com.  The performance schedule varies.
