David Aaron Baker & Kelly McAndrew Lead Chautauqua Theater Company's DARK RADIO Reading, Now thru 7/13

Continuing to build on the enormous success of new play development at Chautauqua Theater Company (CTC), Artistic Director Vivienne Benesch and Managing Director Sarah Clare Corporandy, announces casting for the Signature Staged Readings of Dark Radio by Colin McKenna to be presented today, July 11-13 on the Bratton Theater Mainstage.

Directed by Mike Donahue, Dark Radio features David AaRon Baker, Kelly McAndrew, Jacob Dresch and Arielle Goldman.

Something is wrong in Ron''s suburban neighborhood, but he's the only person in the family who seems to notice. Streets are suddenly deserted, cell phones are dead, and the cable is down. The only communication Ron is receiving from the outside world is a single radio station, buried deep in the AM dial...

Dark Radio features the design work of CTC's 2013 Design Fellows: Lauren Mills (Scenic Design), Janet O'Neill (Costume Design), Sarah Tunderman (Lighting Design), Justin Schultz (Sound Design). Jenny Kennedy is Stage Manager and Susan Woodburn Assistant Stage Manager.

Jacob R. Dresch (Tex) is entering his final year at UC Irvine's Graduate Acting Program. The New Play Workshop Signature Staged Readings introduce Chautauqua audiences to important new voices in the theater and to the staged reading as a thrilling theatrical event in its own right. Each year, CTC staff members read up to two hundred new plays in consideration for two one-week workshops. Over the last nine years, the NPW series has gained incredible momentum and developed into something truly unique: a genuine opportunity to see a play come to life with top actors, designers, and directors for an audience that truly welcomes and encourages new voices for the theatre.
