The sixth season of the acclaimed Monday Nights, New Voices series continues April 26th at the Duplex Cabaret Theatre. Rent's Darius de Haas will host an evening of new Voices, featuring the talents of Sarah Aili, Sarah Corey, Drew Pournelle, Stuart Matthew Price and Tricia Tanguy. Show time is 7 PM.

Jonathan Larson Award Winner, Sam Davis, will be the evening's guest composer and will be on hand to accompany each performer on selections from his songbook as well as tell stories behind the songs. Paul Staroba is the evening's musical director.

Darius de Haas - Darius made his Broadway debut in Kiss of the Spiderwoman , followed by Lincoln Center's revival of Carousel, Rent, The Gershwins' Fascinating Rhythm, Marie Christine, the 20th anniversary concert of Dreamgirls and Hair ( both for the Actor's Fund), and City Center's Encores Broadway Bash. His championing of new musical works has enabled him to introduce and/or record songs written by, among others Stephen Schwartz, William Finn, Ricky Ian Gordon, Diedre Murray, Michael John LaChiusa, Adam Guettel, Kirsten Childs, and John Adams. Notable Off-Broadway, regional, touring and premiere credits include his Obie winning leading performance in the Pulitzer nominated Running Man (Music-Theater Group), Cain in Children of Eden (Papermill Playhouse), Saturn Returns (Public Theater), Cry The Beloved Country (Goodman Theater), The Bubbly Black Girl Sheds Her Chameleon Skin (Playwrights Horizons), Once On This Island (1st National Tour), the opera I Was Looking At The Ceiling and Then I Saw the Sky, and most recently Jesus Christ Superstar- Gospel at the Alliance Theater. Darius is featured on numerous recordings including his award-winning solo debut CD, Darius de Haas: Day Dream- Variations on Strayhorn. Sam Davis - Sam is a composer, conductor, pianist, and arranger. Broadway credits include music director for the upcoming revival of Dreamgirls, currently on national tour. Other Broadway credits as conductor include Curtains, The Apple Tree, Follies, and Cabaret. Other theater work includes music director/vocal arranger for Henry Krieger & John Patrick Shanley's Romantic Poetry at Manhattan Theater Club, orchestrations for Jason Robert Brown's The Trumpet of the Swan at the Kennedy Center (coming this fall to Town Hall), music supervisor for Dreamgirls in Seoul, Korea , music supervisor/arranger for Radio Girl at the Goodspeed Opera, and dance music arrangements fo the national tour of Seven Brides for Seven Brothers,. . Sam has orchestrated for such performers as Chita Rivera, Kristin Chenoweth, Marin Mazzie, Jason Danieley, Debbie Gravitte, and Patrick Wilson, and his orchestrations have been performed by the Philadelphia Pops, the Boston Pops, the San Francisco Symphony, the Chicago Symphony, the New York Pops, and the National Symphony, among others. As composer: The Scottish Musical (Penn State New Musicals Festival), Dysfunctional Fables (Orlando Fringe Festival), and A Good Boy (workshopped at the University of Michigan.) Sam is recording an album of his own songs due out from P.S. Classics this fall. He is the composer of the title song for Rebecca Luker's Greenwich Time on the same label; other recording work for P.S. Classics includes Kitty's Kisses, When the Wind Blows South, Warm Spring Night, and Dream True. He is a founding member of the New Voices Collective at Symphony Space, and of its London counterpart, New Voices at Purcell Hall. He is also a winner of the Jonathan Larson Award. Sam is a 1998 graduate of the University of Michigan.
