According to The Hollywood Reporter, DEAR EVAN HANSEN scribe Steven Levenson has inked a two-year overall deal with FOX 21 Television Studios and 20th Century FOX Television. Under the agreement, the playwright will create new projects for cable, streaming and broadcast channels.

Levenson's new musical DEAR EVAN HANSEN has received rave reviews from critics and audiences alike. The story follows a high school student (Ben Platt) who suffers from severe social anxiety disorder. The show features music and lyrics by recent Oscar winners Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (LA LA LAND).

Levenson penned the off-Broadway play IF I FORGET, which centers on three generations of a Jewish family dealing with the lasting impact of the Holocaust today. His TV credits include writing and producing Showtime's recent period drama Masters of Sex, as well as Fox's WAYWARD PINES and CBS' Vegas. Currently he is writing a screenplay adaptation for Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig's upcoming musical from Marc Platt, which will be based on Sport Murphy and Steve Young's book "Everything Is Coming Up Profits: The Golden Age of Industrial Musicals."

In a statement, FOX 21 Television Studios president Bert Salke commented "Steven Levenson is truly one of the bright shining voices on the American stage right now and somebody with whom we have wanted to work for a long time. We believe that just as his show Dear Evan Hansen is, Steven's work to come in television will be truly transcendent."
