Creative License Productions is proud to present the New York Premiere of Creative License as part of the 19th annual New York International Fringe Festival - FringeNYC. A new Boston-based rock musical with book and lyrics by Kevin Cirone and music by Cirone, Spencer Elliott and Dan Rodriguez, Creative License is a testament to the power of art, family, friendship, and double-malt scotch.

Casey and Bethany haven't spoken for a year. Casey has writer's block and a friend with benefits that's about to shut down the benefits; Bethany is treading water in a safe relationship and an overwhelming job for a demented drama professor. When Casey's family business is in jeopardy, they find themselves nose to nose attempting to produce the nutty professor's "magnum opus". Suddenly the brilliant new play is revealed to be not what it seems, forcing the two to work together to find a creative solution. A memorable score and dialogue that is fast-paced and banter-laced has made this rocking show an audience favorite.

The Fringe festival marks the New York premiere of Cirone's first full-length theatrical piece, following a well-received workshop in Boston. The writer/composer also joins the cast for the first time, alongside IRNE Winners Shonna Cirone (Ragtime, Fiddlehead Theatre Co.) and Robert D. Murphy (Camelot, New Repertory Theater), Michael Levesque (Next to Normal, Speakeasy Stage Co.), Katie Anne Clark (Big Fish, Speakeasy Stage Co.), Maritza Bostic (Into the Woods, Lyric Stage Co.), and Jake Alexander. The show is directed and choreographed by Rachel Bertone (City of Angels, Lyric Stage Co.) and music directed by co-composer and IRNE Winner Dan Rodriguez (The Blue Flower, American Repertory Theater).

The Boston-based author started Creative License Productions as a launchpad for his own original works but will soon expand into works by other artists. An actor on the Boston scene for over a decade, Cirone holds writing credits in film and stage and has also hosted and written for Bye Bye Liver: The Drinking Play, a sketch show that has run in 10 cities. Creative License is also his first creative collaboration with Spencer Elliott and Dan Rodriguez.
