New York Art Wave Project in partnership with the uptown-based organization, The West Harlem Art Fund, presents FUSION EAST WEST during Frieze Week from May 5th through the 10th.

Over a dozen artists from NYC and Japan will exhibit in the UR Concept Space Gallery. Lead Curator Sai Morikawa has assembled an array of artists that spotlights the art scene in Japan Now.

Understanding the importance of NY"s international scene, Morikawa teamed with a NYC curator Savona Bailey-McClain and her organization that has experience presenting works of artists from the global diaspora.

Participating artists are: Sumie Chiba, Yumiko Hirokawa, Kiyokazu Itu, Miwako Kashiwagi, Mari Mizuno, Sai Morikawa, Hisae Nishiguchi, Touko Okamura, Yoshiko Saito, Miho Takai, Keiko Tanaka, Tamiko Tominaga, Tomonori Utsunomiya.

There will be a live painting and performance by calligraphy artist Taisan Tanaka. And there will be an artist talk in Brooklyn at the NU Hotel located at 85 Smith Street.

UR Concept Space is located at 143 West 29th Street along with the Hanamizuki Café and health salon. Opening reception is on May 5th from 6-8 p.m. Asahi Shuzo is the official sake sponsor for Fusion East West, serving DASSAI.
