Confirmed: Nick Jonas in Talks to Become AMERICAN IDOL Judge

Nick Jonas has confirmed rumors that he is in talks to become a new American Idol judge on his Twitter account yesterday, August 4, 2012.

Jonas Tweeted: "The rumors are true... I am being considered to be a judge on American Idol, and it would be a dream come true if it happens. #nickonidol"

If he officially steps into the role, he will work alongside fellow judges Randy Jackson and Mariah Carey, who, as BroadwayWorld previously reported, was confirmed as a new judge in July. The announcement followed reports the same month that Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez would not return for season 12, which will kick off in early 2013.

Other than Jonas, both Pharrell Williams and Adam Lambert's names have surfaced as contenders, although neither has been confirmed.

Nick Jonas played J. Pierrepont Finch (preceded by Daniel Radcliffe and Darren Criss) in the closing cast of the 2011 Broadway revival of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying. Jonas began his Broadway career at the age of 7, performing in shows such as A Christmas Carol, Annie Get Your Gun, Beauty and the Beast and Les Misérables, as well as The Sound of Music at Paper Mill Playhouse.

Jonas is well-known as one of the "Jonas Brothers," a pop-rock band that was featured in starring roles in several Disney Channel original series and films, including Camp Rock. Jonas later formed the band "Nick Jonas & The Administration," which released its debut album in 2010.
