In this current age of mean-spirited comedy audience members often find themselves ridiculed by the performers they paid to see. However, one comic provides a refreshing break. Steven Kent McFarlin entertains with humor no one has to be afraid of. He has taken his comedic message to all 50 states and 23 countries, resulting in him twice being voted the "Comic of the Year." Perhaps you've heard his humor on one of his 52 TV appearances, such as Good Morning America or The Late Show, or on his many broadcasts on Sirius Radio.

Q: Talk about your new show, "The Laff Guru."

LG: Some network executive thought it would be funny to stick a good ol' boy from Austin in a Buddhist monastery, and I must admit they were right. Communication was near impossible, but that was my partly fault; my first lesson the Zen Master told me I should meditate five times a day, but I thought he said medicate... I really don't remember much of the other lessons. Guess you could say I was on the road to enlightenment and missed the exit.

Q: Did you learn anything at the monastery?

LG: I was taught the Buddha said: "There are only two mistakes one can make along the road to truth; not going all the way, and not starting." I then realized my girlfriend can never be Buddhist, because last month she went all the way and this month she is not starting.
