Columbia Stages will present THE GOVERNMENT INSPECTOR, the 2014 MFA Actors' thesis production, an adaptation of Nikolai Gogol's Russian classic by Jeffrey Hatcher, directed by Jesse Berger. THE GOVERNMENT INSPECTOR will open at 3LD and run from November 13-16 and 20-23.

Nikolai Gogol's epic farce pits corruption against chaos in a small Russian town. When the crooked bigwigs of a small village hear that a government inspector is planning an undercover visit to their community, their efforts to hide past vices spin out of control. Led by their frantic and cravenly dishonest mayor, the town weaves a web of lies, bribery, and utter nonsense that threatens to undo them all.

Titillating audiences since 1836, Gogol's comedy gets a new adaptation from playwright Jeffrey Hatcher, whose take on the text premiered in 2008 at the Guthrie Theater in Minneapolis. Now, Jesse Berger, Artistic Director of the Red Bull Theater, will steer the MFA Acting Class of 2014 through its thesis performance with this rollicking Russian ride.

Tickets: $15/$5 Seniors/FREE with Student ID. Info: www.columbiastages.org.
