A celebration of the best of American music by College of the Mainland Vocal Arts will be held April 4 at 7 p.m. at St. George's Episcopal Church in Texas City.

A preview of their upcoming Ireland tour, the concert will feature the Mainland Singers performing gospel tunes and upbeat classics while the Mainland Chorale will showcase traditional choral music, Broadway melodies and classic hits such as "Blue Skies."

"The new 'Voice Dance' is the coolest thing I've ever heard the Mainland Singers do. It has a jazz pop sound," said Heffel. "Audiences in Ireland like to see American stuff, and boy, do we have a program for them."

Incorporating the Emerald Isle theme, the tune "Irish Blessing" will feature a soloist on the Irish whistle. A bagpipe performance by director James Heffel will grace the intermission.

The free concert will include a silent auction, door prizes, refreshments and a raffle drawing for an all-expense paid trip to Paris. The concert will be held at St. George Episcopal, 510 13th Ave. N. in Texas City. For more information or to purchase raffle tickets, call 409-933-8348.
