Coleavens Industries will present Lies We Tell Ourselves (when flamethrowers aren't enough) as part of the 17th annual New York International Fringe Festival - FringeNYC. Premiering at FringeNYC, Lies We Tell Ourselves will be presented at The Players Theatre (115 Macdougal Street, Fringe venue #17).

Lies We Tell Ourselves is about memory. And maturity. And reconciling one's past with one's future. And also flamethrowers. Set on the brink of a wedding, the play hurls Gabe into his own psyche (literally) to grapple with his life, his mistakes, and his path forward. This is a story of an individual in a desperate search for courage.

Lies is written by New York native Josh Sohn, whose plays have been performed by Flux Theatre Ensemble, Packawallop Productions, Tip My Cup, Young Playwrights' Group, and in the Short Play Lab Festival. His play Jump! was a finalist in the New York Strawberry Festival, and Laid Plans was a semi-finalist in the Samuel French Off-Off Broadway Festival. His work has appeared in The Wall Street Journal, The Brooklyn Writer's Space Reader, Saltmag.net, and Gelf Magazine.

The production is led by director Jason Bruffy, who has helmed over 30 productions all over the country and NY. Notable credits include: Associate Producer for Soho Rep's Obie Award winning Born Bad, Producing Artistic Director of both Salt Lake Acting Company and Know Theatre of Cincinnati, and Founder and Producing Director of the 10 year old Cincinnati Fringe Festival. Bruffy has developed work with writers including Mark Holman (Tony Award, Urinetown), Sean Christopher Lewis (Smith Prize), Mark Brown, Deborah Zoe Laufer, Christina Gorman, and Allyson Moore, as well as many others.

The ensemble cast includes Rich Dreher (ABC's Cashmere Mafia) as the overthinking Gabe, Mélisa Breiner-Sanders (As Wide As I Can See, HERE Arts Center) as the sweet Willa, Anne Marie Vick (Central Avenue Breakdown, The Signature Theatre) as the brutally honest Meghan and Luke Forbes (The Merchant of Venice, Broadway/The Public) as Gabe's sharp best friend Parker.

The creative team includes lighting design by Isabella Byrd (The Great Divorce, FTPA), set design by Clifton Chadick (Accidentally Like A Martyr, The Paradise Factory), costume design by Caitlin Conci (Welcome to the Jungle, Ars Nova) and sound design by Daniel Melnick (The House of Von Macrame, The Bushwick Starr).

Coleavens Industries is an event and theatrical producing company based in Brooklyn, New York. Notable past production include Meanwhile, in Baghdad in FringeNYC and The Pen Is Mightier in the Samuel French Off-Off Broadway Festival. Coleavens Industries is also known for The Everyone Hates Valentine's Day Party, an annual dance party celebrating mutual distain for a terrible holiday.
