Clarice Taylor Dies at 93

Clarice Taylor, the actress best known for her roles on television - among them "The Cosby Show," "Sesame Street" and more - but also for her role in 1975's THE WIZ, passed away May 30th from heart failure. She was 93 years old.

Taylor's stage credits included 1969's MAN BETTER MAN, 1972's WEDDING BAND, 1987's MOMS, and 1992's MAN, WOMAN, DINOSAUR at Playwrights Horizons. In addition a myriad of guest appearances on television, Taylor also appeared in a handful of films, perhaps most notably reprising Addaperle in the film version of The Wiz. She also reprised her stage role as Gladys in the film Five on the Black Hand Side in 1973. Taylor received an Emmy nomination in 1986 for her turn as Anna Huxtable in The Cosby Show.

People reports that Clarice Taylor is survived by her sons William and James, along with five grandchildren.
