Christopher Scott & Tamilla Woodard Named Directors of Masterworks Theater Company's Inaugural Season

Masterworks Theater Company has announced that Christopher Scott and Tamilla Woodard will direct its inaugural season, taking place at the 47th Street Theatre. Cast and creative team will be announced soon.

Masterworks Theater Company's Artistic Director, Christopher Scott will direct The Glass Menagerie slated for May of 2015. With over 20 years of experience on stage and off, Mr. Scott has directed productions for Theatreworks/USA, Amas' Rosetta Lenoire Musical Theatre Academy, as well as numerous Off-Broadway productions including Jekyll and Hyde, Greed: A Musical For Our Times and Nancy Friday's My Secret Garden. As a performer, he has been seen on Broadway in Meet Me in St. Louis and in Off- Broadway's longest running show The Fantasticks.

Ms. Woodard has been tapped to direct A Midsummer Night's Dream set for June 2015. She is the founder of the award winning PopUp Theatrics which has been recognized for its global site specific productions. She has directed productions with such companies as New Georges, Working Theater, HERE, The Actors Theatre of Louisville, PS122, DR 2, The Culture Project, Urban Stages, Dance Theatre Workshop, The Kitchen Theatre and for festivals and universities around the US and internationally.

Masterworks Theater Company, a professional not-for-profit Equity theater company, whose repertoire will include the masterworks of the theater (plays, musicals and stage adaptation of novels) that every young person should have an opportunity to experience. Masterworks Theater Company will offer a school-friendly schedule with affordable ticket prices ($33 for student groups; $45 - $65 for non-students). In addition to the live theatrical experience, Masterworks Theater Company will also offer study-guides as well as teacher workshops with each production to help enrich the student's experience.
