The New Season, a series of concerts at Birdland featuring top Broadway performers, continues on Monday, July 18 at 7pm with Christine Ebersole and Billy Stritch.  The series is presented by Jim Caruso, in association with TheaterMania.com.

Christine Ebersole won the 2001 Tony for her star-turn in 42nd Street, then teamed with cast-mate Billy Stritch for a cabaret run at Feinstein's in NYC and The Cinegrill in Los Angeles. After their sold-out BIRDLAND shows in November and February, we're thrilled to welcome the duo back to celebrate the release of their cd "In Your Dreams," (Ghostlight Label) which is a studio re-creation of the show they have been performing across the country. Ebersole and Stritch will perform songs from the recording, including "Fine and Dandy," "Surrey With The Fringe On Top," "My Ship," "You're Getting To Be A Habit With Me," and "There's A Boat That's Leavin' Soon For New York." Christine will also be debuting songs from Grey Gardens: A New Musical. The piece, by librettist Doug Wright, composer Scott Frankel and lyricist Michael Korie, will premiere in the 2005-06 season of Playwrights Horizons. Christine and Mary Louise Wilson will star in the musical, inspired by the creepy cult film documentary about relatives of Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy living in a squalid Long Island mansion!

Birdland has been a world-class music room on the Manhattan nightclub scene since 1949.  Jazz superstars Sarah Vaughan, Count Basie, Dinah Washington, and more recently Ann Hampton Callaway, Diana Krall, John Pizzarelli and Tito Puente have all performed on the Birdland stage.  The room offers top-flight music in a world class setting, good sight lines and acoustics, and a menu featuring award-winning Southern cuisine, available until 1am.  Most recently, it's become the home of Cast Party, the weekly Monday late night showbiz gathering featuring impromptu performances by the Broadway, jazz and nightclub crème de la crème.
