There are many options today for parents and kids to decide on day camp or sleep-away camp, but for families whose youngsters are looking to choose a summer theatre camp, one of the best options available is The Children's Acting Academy's Summer Camp 2013, a mixture of day camp and sleep-away, says Mimi Stuart, The Children's Acting Academy's Artistic Director and owner.

"Our Summer Intensive Theater Program has three major components - our day camp in New York City that starts on July 8 and is operational Mondays through Thursdays from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM through the week of August 19-22; followed by a unique nine days of summer stock for kids at Scott's Resort in Oquaga Lake, NY, from July 12 through 21, where the professional staff will audition, cast, rehearse and then present a musical show on their stage Friday night, and two shows outdoors at their annual Lumberjack Festival; and we top off the summer with a "British Invasion" where we fly in a great dramatic teacher from London for an intensive, but fun week, where campers create their own show around a classic theme. We inaugurated this program last year when the kids learned "Romeo and Juliet" and songs from the West End hit "Matilda," seven months before it opened on Broadway."

The Children's Acting Academy's Summer Theater Program provides campers with an introduction to the professional theater world. Professional guest artists lead classes in acting, improvisation, movement, voice-overs, wardrobe, makeup and hair, TV, auditioning techniques, stage combat, singing, dancing and more. Meetings face to face with "the pros" in theater, broadcasting, TV and film provide the students with real life, hands-on experience in the performing arts.

The professional instructors in the Day Camp Program include experienced actors who have created voices in many animated television shows, staged combat scenes for soap operas, and Broadway stars who teach singing. The day campers also attend a Broadway matinee every Wednesday and the Academy's choreographer teaches the campers a dance from the show that is performed at an open recital for parents on Thursday afternoons.

There are two camp levels:

NYC Day Camp, Monday -Thursday from 9 AM to 3 PM; seven weeks beginning July 8-11 and concluding August 19-22. Cost: $595 per week (which includes CAA camp T-shirt, one Broadway show ticket, snack/lunch and all camp trips); and/or
