Center for Puppetry Arts to Present Sensory-Friendly Performance of 'CLICK CLACK MOO', 7/19

Center for Puppetry Arts presents a Sensory-Friendly performance of Click Clack Moo: Cows That Type on July 19, 2015.

This special afternoon will allow guests with autism spectrum disorder to experience a sensory-friendly performance of Click Clack Moo: Cows That Type and a sensory-friendly Create-A-Puppet Workshop.

Several alterations will be employed to create a comfortable setting for guests with ASD. Performance alterations include theater lights dimmed down but not out, consistent sound levels and lower volume of show soundtrack, freedom for children to talk and to leave their seat if necessary and permission to bring quiet, contained snacks and beverages. There will also be a quiet zone with fiddle toys in the lobby. Create-A-Puppet Workshop classrooms will be brighter, quieter and feature less-messy puppet building materials and slightly simplified puppet designs. Guests will be welcomed by staff members who have been trained in interactions with patrons with ASD.

Tickets include the sensory-friendly performance and the Create-A-Puppet Workshop where visitors can make their own friendly Click, Clack, Cow Hand Puppet to take home. All events are set for Sunday, July 19, 2015: 12-2:30 p.m.: Sensory-friendly Create-A-Puppet workshops; 1-2 p.m.: Sensory-friendly performance of Click, Clack, Moo: Cows That Type at the Center for Puppetry Arts, 1404 Spring Street NW, Atlanta, GA 30309. Please note: The Center's museum exhibits are currently closed for construction, as part of its expansion and renovation project. Kermit and friends are getting a new home at the Center for Puppetry Arts! The nation's largest nonprofit dedicated to the art of puppetry is constructing a 7,500 square foot museum expansion. Set to be completed in fall 2015, the museum will feature objects from the Center's extensive global collection and will display the world's most comprehensive collection of Jim Henson's contributions to the world of puppetry. The project also includes a major renovation to existing spaces, including a renovated entryway, expanded research library and many other upgrades that will enhance the overall experience for all visitors to the Center. The Center will continue to present performances, workshops, and films throughout the expansion and renovation process; however museum exhibits are closed until the grand opening of the new museum this fall.
