The Daily Telegraph are reporting that Westminster Council have concluded that deteriorating ceiling ties were the principal cause of December's collapse at the Apollo Theatre.

The ceiling ties were created in 1901, when the theatre opened, and were made of hessian and plaster of Paris.

This finding may have a great impact on other West End theatres built at around the same time and with similar materials.

The Apollo Theatre is due to open again this week with Let The Right One In taking up residency.
