Monday night, His Eminence Timothy CardinAl Dolan and the Board of Trustees of Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of New York honored Robert H. Niehaus, Chairman and Founder, GCP Capital, and John G. Stratton, Executive Vice President and President of Operations, Verizon Wireless, at its Centennial Gala Benefit at the Museum of Natural History.

"As we celebrate our Centennial and partnership in building a caring New York, we look forward to focusing on the next century of helping New Yorkers - non Catholics and Catholics alike - in need," said Executive Director, Monsignor Kevin Sullivan. "The generosity of our honorees, along with those who generously support this event, allows us to continue providing basic human services that are efficient, effective, accountable and caring throughout our City."

Every year, the black tie gala joins a dynamic group of New Yorkers from the worlds of business, philanthropy, culture, fashion, law, media, politics, and religion who share a deep concern for the well-being of our fellow New Yorkers in need. This year, the Gala raised over $2 million through the outstanding support of the Catholic Charities Board of Trustees, members of the Cardinal's Committee for Charity, and the benevolence of friends, family and colleagues of their honorees.

Lynda Baquero, Consumer Reporter for NBC New York, served as Mistress of Ceremonies, and Broadway's Janinah Burnett and Alvin Crawford performed a special musical set live.

Honoree Robert H. Niehaus is the Chairman and Founder of GCP Capital Partners LLC, which currently manages three private equity funds totaling $1.5 billion in committed capital. Mr. Niehaus formed GCP Capital Partners in 2009 as the successor to Greenhill Capital Partners, the merchant banking business of Greenhill & Co., Inc. Mr. Niehaus is the Chair of the New York Catholic Foundation, serves on the New York Archdiocese's Finance Committee, and serves on the Board of the Asia Society, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Student Sponsor Partners and The Touch Foundation (which helps fund a medical school in Tanzania). Mr. Niehaus is the past Board Chair of Good Shepherd Services and Acumen.

Fellow honoree John Stratton is Executive Vice President and President of Customer and Product Operations of Verizon, with responsibility for overseeing and growing Verizon's established businesses, including Verizon Wireless, Verizon Enterprise Solutions, Verizon Partner Solutions, Verizon Consumer Markets and Verizon Business Markets. In October 2012, President Obama named Stratton to the National Security Telecommunications Advisory Committee, which provides the president with counsel on issues related to implementing national security and emergency preparedness communications policy.
