Capital Stage will present Misner & Smith in their second performance at Capital Stage on Sunday, February 23 at 7pm. Join us for an evening of fresh and lyrical Americana/Folk music. Opening for the acclaimed Bay Area duo will be Capital Stage's own Producing Artistic Director Jonathan Williams performing selected songs on guitar in a similar genre.

Known for their stunning live performances, Misner & Smith have been winning over fans with top-notch songwriting, musicianship, and extraordinary vocal harmonies. With their brand new release, Seven Hour Storm, Misner & Smith have created an album of vivid, poetic songwriting, filled with some of the finest harmony singing around. Working with producer Jeff Kazor (The Crooked Jades, Richard Buckner) and engineer Bruce Kaphan (David Byrne, REM, The Black Crowes) they have penned an album with lush, yet subtle arrangements, filling out an already rich sound that the duo is known for producing live.

Tickets are $22 in advance and $25 at the door and can be purchased at www.capstage.org or by calling 916.995.5464

Sam Misner and Megan Smith first met as actors on a production of the musical Woody Guthrie's American Song in 2004 and immediately recognized a mutual love of Americana music, particularly focused on vocal harmonies. Megan Smith plays the upright bass and mandolin while Sam Misner plays guitar, and with stellar songwriting to boot, Misner & Smith retain a connection to roots music that has been described as "the perfect balance between traditional and contemporary". Coming together as a performing duo, the two drew from their careers as actors and musicians, finding that the art of storytelling was one of the common threads running through both forms. As performers, Misner & Smith are wonderful on stage, sharing stories and jokes with the audience and drawing people into their music. Read more about Misner & Smith at misnerandsmith.com.

Audiences will remember Sam and Megan from previous Capital Stage acting credits, including FIRST PERSON SHOOTER, LES LIAISONS DANGEREUSES, THREE DAYS OF RAIN, several Playwrights' Revolution appearances and Megan is currently in THE REAL THING at Capital Stage.
