Center Theatre Group and El Teatro Campesino present "Popol Vuh: Heart of Heaven", adapted and directed by Kinan Valdez and featuring members of the Boyle Heights community. The show runs Saturday and Sunday, October 10 and 11 at 3:30 p.m. at Grand Park in Downtown Los Angeles.

Against the backdrop of Los Angeles' iconic City Hall, the famed Chicano theatre company El Teatro Campesino creates an epic visual feast, "Popol Vuh: Heart of Heaven," which tells the story of the Mayan creation myth with an L.A. twist through the use of towering puppetry, music and dance. CTG's neighbors in Boyle Heights will perform alongside members of El Teatro Campesino, culminating a year-long process of puppet-making, performance and music workshops. "Popol Vuh: Heart of Heaven" highlights local talent and reaches across centuries and cultures to celebrate life and creation.

Audience members are encouraged to pack a picnic and bring blankets, pillows or low chairs. This is a free event. No reservations. For more information, visit www.CenterTheatreGroup.org or call (213) 628-2772. Grand Park stretches from The Music Center (135. Grand Ave., L.A. 90012) on the west to City Hall on the east, between First and Temple streets.
