CPCC Theatre Announces Its 2014-2015 Season

Central Piedmont Community College (CPCC) Theatre is excited to announce its 2014-2015 performance season to the Charlotte community. The upcoming season will include:

"They're Playing Our Song," September 26-October 5, 2014, Halton Theater

In this theatrical classic, America's premier funny man, Neil Simon, joined with the Tony Award-winning composer of "A Chorus Line," Marvin Hamlisch, and songwriter Carole Bayer Sager, to collaborate on a hit musical based on the ups and downs of Marvin and Carole's real life relationship. The result was the funny, romantic musical, "They're Playing Our Song." The show reveals how professionally this couple's relationship worked beautifully, but ultimately led to conflict on the home front. But, it wouldn't be a theatre production if there wasn't a happy ending.

"The Game's Afoot (Or Holmes for the Holidays)," October 31-November 9, 2014, Pease Auditorium

Broadway star William Gillette, admired the world over for his leading role in the play Sherlock Holmes, has invited his fellow cast members to his Connecticut castle for the weekend. But when one of the guests is stabbed to death, the festivities quickly turn dangerous. Gillette, in the persona of his beloved Holmes, is left to track down the killer before the next victim appears. The danger and hilarity are non-stop in this glittering whodunit.

"How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying," February 13-22, 2015, Halton Theater

Power, sex, ambition, greed... it's just another day at the office. From the authors of "Guys and Dolls," comes one of the most delightfully irreverent musicals of all time. "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying" follows the rise of J. Pierpont Finch as he climbs the corporate ladder from lowly window washer to high-powered executive. Winner of the 1962 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, "How to Succeed..." melds wit, comedy and romance to perfection.

"Joe Turner's Come and Gone," April 10-19, 2015, Pease Auditorium

Set in Pittsburgh in 1911, this drama by the author of "The Piano Lesson" and "Fences" is the story of the denizens of a boardinghouse who each have a different relationship to a past of slavery as well as to the urban present. The boarders include the proprietors, an eccentric clairvoyant with a penchant for old country voodoo, a young homeboy up from the South and a mysterious stranger who is searching for his wife. Please note: select performances of this production will be held during Sensoria, the college's week-long celebration of the arts.

Season tickets will be available August 14. Regular season subscriptions are $56 and senior season subscriptions are $52 (good for Tuesday evening and Sunday matinee performances).Individual tickets go on sale September 2. Tickets for shows in the Dale F. Halton Theater are $20 and tickets for shows in Pease Auditorium are $18. Children under 15 are $10. Please note applicable N.C. admission taxes still apply to both fees.
