Last week, GLEE's Lea Michele turned to Twitter to share a photo of her Spring Awakening co-star and BFF Jonathan Groff on the set of the FOX musical drama. The actress captioned the pic (at left): "A very special day at #Glee today! Only 3 more days left! And look who stopped by! #JGroff #JesseStJames."

The post immediately sent Gleeks everywhere reeling over the prospect that Groff may reprise his role of Jesse St. James, (Rachel Berry's ex-boyfriend) on the series finale.

A source has now confirmed to Eonline that Groff, who was last seen in the show's third season as coach of rival GLEE club Vocal Adrenaline, will indeed return for the series finale. While no details have been revealed as to how or why he will re-enter Rachel's life, the site reports that it may be related to his old job, recently vacated by Mr. Schuester (Matthew Morrison). FOX has not commented on the report.

As far as Jesse rekindling his romance with Rachel after he was jilted by her in Season 2, it remains uncertain. Ms. Berry is currently romantically involved with Sam (Chord Overstreet).

Sources also reveal that the cast list for the GLEE series finale will also include:

Geraldo Rivera as himself; Andrew Rannells as himself; Mark Salling as Puck Puckerman; Kevin McHale as Artie Abrams; Amber Riley as Mercedes Jones; Jenna Ushkowitz as Tina Cohen-Chang; Jayma Mays as Emma Pillsbury; Dianna Agron as Quinn Fabray; Naya Rivera as Santana Lopez; Heather Morris as Brittany S. Pierce; Jessalyn Gilsig as Terri Schuester; Melissa Benoist as Marley Rose; Jacob Artist as Jake Puckerman; Alex Newell as Unique and Blake Jenner as Ryder.

Groff currently stars on the second season of HBO's hit drama series LOOKING.
