The Colbert Report took home this year's Emmy for OUTSTANDING WRITING FOR A VARIETY SERIES

Also nominated were The Daily Show WITH JON STEWART, JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE, LATE NIGHT WITH JIMMY FALLON, REAL TIME WITH BILL MAHER, and SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE.

STEPHEN COLBERT: Thank you very much. Wow. The Emmys are so good this year.

(Laughter.)

That says something special about it. I'm not sure what. We, all of us, first want to thank "The Daily Show" for setting the standard and Being a constant inspiration for both of us here.

(Applause.)

You know, I'm ?? they say it's an honor just to be nominated. I am honored to be nominated with all of these people up here, who give me all of the stupidest things to say, but to say them in such a way that somehow you forgive me, just how stupid they make me. We want to thank the network for giving us the space to do a show like this. We want to thank anybody who is willing to come on and talk to that stupid person I play on TV. And I personally ?? I want to thank my wife, Evy, for Being so cruel and sexy. Thank you.
