It will be a homecoming when the original cast of the York Theatre Company's 2012 revival production of the classic Off-Broadway hit musical Closer Than Ever, with lyrics by Richard Maltby, Jr. and music by David Shire, featuring Jenn Colella, George Dvorsky, Christiane Noll and Sal Viviano, reunite for the official New York release of the new cast recording on the Jay Record Label.

The cast is set to perform selections from the 2-CD recording and will be joined by music director Andrew Gerle and Mr. Shire on Friday, September 20 at Barnes & Noble (150 East 86th Street, between Lexington and Third Avenues) beginning at 5:00 p.m. Priority seating will be available with purchase. Richard Maltby, Jr. and David Shire's musical treasure Closer Than Ever opened in June 2012 at The York Theatre Company with an exciting new cast and fresh additions to the timeless score. An intimate musical about love, friendship, security, happiness - and holding onto those essentials in a world that pulls us in a hundred directions at once - Closer Than Ever at the York wasn't merely a revival, it was the homecoming of an Off-Broadway classic. "An absolutely exquisite and exhilarating theatrical experience. 4 out of 4 Stars!" exclaimed Matt Windman, AM NY. "A truly magical, satisfying experience! Wonderful! Exhilaratingly comical. Sung with flair, compassion and wit!" declared Jennifer Farrar, Associated Press. The critically acclaimed 2012 production was given the Off-Broadway Alliance Award for "Best Revival of a Musical."

With direction by Mr. Maltby, associate direction and choreography by Kurt Stamm and music direction by Mr. Gerle, the creative team included James Morgan (sets), Nicole Wee (costumes), and Kirk Bookman (lights).
