In his first one-person-show at the Blue Mountain Gallery, Burt Van Deusen is showing work done during the past five years. The paintings and drawings are invented cloudscapes painted or drawn in a direct manner. The work reveals inventiveness and attention to where the paint takes imagination. All the work shown was produced in his studio, which he maintains in Springs, New York.

Earlier in his life Mr. Van Deusen worked for Jackie Gleason as a scenic artist, then, later worked for other television shows (Flipper, Gentle Ben and Treasure Island) and the Florida film industry. He also spent a year designing and making "floats" for the Orange Bowl Parade in Miami before returning to college.

Burt's other interests include boat building and book collecting. He has lived and worked on the east end of Long Island for over thirty years. His work has been included in several group shows in New York City including: Art Sounds at the Nohra Haime Gallery and Interior Spaces at the New York Law School.

Other shows that have included Burt Van Deusen's work are: Art Alumni, Philadelphia College of Art; Regional Painting, Pennsylvania State University; Two Painters, PCA; Earth/Sky/Water, East Hampton Center for Contemporary Art; New Spaces / New Faces, Guild Hall Museum.
