On Monday, January 25th, New York Theatre Barn returns to the D-Lounge at the Daryl Roth Theater to present its monthly showcase for emerging writers and performers, celebrating the third year of the performance series (where it originated in 2007). To help kick off the year's first installment of NYTB in the D-Lounge will be several current Broadway performers, including Jackie Burns (Hair), Jeremy Jordan (Rock of Ages & West Side Story), Josh Lamon (Hair), Victoria Matlock (Wicked), and Jason Michael Snow (South Pacific). The evening will feature the music and lyrics of Sam Carner & Derek Gregor (Unlock'd, NYMF 2007 ‘Best In Fest,' Talkin' Broadway's ‘Best Musical' & ‘Best Original Score'), and Will Van Dyke (with additional lyrics by Josh Halloway). Executive Producers for NYTB in the D-Lounge are Laura Brandel and Karen Marshall.

The first set of the evening will be excerpts from Sing, But Don't Tell (lyrics by Sam Carner, music by Derek Gregor), and will feature performances from Jackie Burns, Nick Gaswirth, and Jeremy Jordan. Irreverent, soulful, and insightful, Sing, But Don't Tell is a cabaret of original songs by Carner and Gregor that combine glorious harmonies and musical comedy with elements of progressive rock to weave together musical stories of 5 New Yorkers and the eccentricities of living in New York.

The second set of the evening, Road Songs: the Music of Will Van Dyke, will feature performances from Josh Lamon, Victoria Matlock, & Jason Michael Snow as they sing hilarious and heartfelt love songs inspired from Van Dyke's time on the road. Van Dyke and Halloway's original works include the musical Pages (CAP21) and Halloway's one man show Girl's I've LIKE Liked (ArsNova). Van Dyke also penned the scores to Troilus and Cressida (Soho Rep) and We Three Kings (an experimental piece that will be featured in the New Orleans FRINGE festival this November).

NYTB in the D-Lounge takes place Monday, January 25th at 7:30pm it the D-Lounge at the Daryl Roth Theater (101 East 15th Street at Union Square East). There is a $10 cover plus a 1-drink minimum.

Under the direction of Joe Barros (Producing Artistic Director) and Reed Prescott (Executive Director), New York Theatre Barn is a not-for-profit theatre company dedicated to the investigation, development, and advancement of new evocative works and strives to challenge the way new work is developed. Since its inception in 2007, NYTB introduced a monthly springboard event for emerging writers and performers (NYTB at The Duplex, NYTB in the D Lounge), presented concerts and staged readings (including the musical Big Fat Cat with Bruce Vilanch and I Married Wyatt Earp with Tovah Feldshuh, directed by Tony-nominee Graciela Daniele) and produced fully realized productions (including Wood at the NYMF with Tony Award winner Cady Huffman). Recent productions include the musical parody Hey, You Know What Movie Would Make a Good Musical? at the Julia Miles Theatre and Bridget Bailey's one-woman play Child of Hungry Times, winner of Outstanding Production of a Solo Show (Planet Connections Theatre Festival). NYTB has grown into a vital force in the New York theatre scene where it has been a launching ground for challenging new work including Adam Gwon's Ordinary Days (which had a recent production at the Roundabout Theatre Company, New York Theatre Barn is a member of the National Alliance for Musical Theatre.
