Broadway's Karen Murphy to Play Sue Mengers in I'LL EAT YOU LAST at Amphibian Stage

Amphibian Stage Productions (Kathleen Culebro, Artistic Director) has announced the cast and creative team for its second main stage play of the 2016 season, I'LL EAT YOU LAST: A CHAT WITH SUE MENGERS by John Logan. Starring Karen Murphy, the play will run Thursday, April 7 through Sunday, May 1 at the Berlene T. and Jarrell R. Milburn Theatre at Amphibian Stage Productions.

Director Krista Scott leads the production. Ms. Scott previously directed Mr. & Mrs. Fitch for Amphibian. Additionally, I'll Eat You Last... will feature set design by Michael Skinner, lighting design by Adam Chamberlin, sound design by David Lanza, properties design by Vanessa Rohrer, and costume design by Brittny Mahan.

Broadway veteran Karen Murphy stars in this buoyant and witty solo piece that The New York Times calls "a delectable soufflé of a show". Cozy up with Hollywood agent Sue Mengers as she invites you for an evening of indulgent gossip from her illustrious career working with box office luminaries Barbra Streisand, Steve McQueen, Ali McGraw and others. Expect a fast, funny, and frank rendezvous when this fiery and foul-mouthed raconteur gets talking! *This play contains strong language.

I'LL EAT YOU LAST: A CHAT WITH SUE MENGERS opens Thursday, April 7 and will play through Sunday, May 1 at Amphibian Stage Productions' Milburn Theatre. Performances Thursday through Saturday will be at 8pm with 2pm Sunday matinees. Thursday, April 7 is a private opening night for Amphibian?s Devonian members and press and is available by invitation only. Limited seating for the final dress rehearsal will be available on Wednesday, April 6. The final dress rehearsal is open to the public and seating will be first come, first served.

About the Artists:

John Logan (Playwright)- John Logan is an award-winning playwright and screenwriter. His plays include Never the Sinner, about the infamous Leopold and Loeb case, and Hauptman, about the Lindbergh baby kidnapping. RED, which premiered at the Donmar Warehouse in London and the Golden Theatre on Broadway, won Drama Desk, Drama League, Outer Critics Circle and Olivier awards for best play, as well as six Tony Awards, the most of any play. Mr. Logan's work as a screenwriter includes Any Given Sunday, RKO 281, The Last Samurai, Gladiator, The Aviator, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, and Skyfall.

Krista Scott (Director)- Krista Scott has directed the local professional productions of Venus in Fur and Exit, Pursued by a Bear at Circle Theatre, and The Heir Apparent at Stage West. Other directing work includes The Unfortunates at Kitchen Theatre (NY) as well as Two Rooms, The Heidi Chronicles, Steel Magnolias, and eight productions of A Christmas Carol in St. Cloud, MN. Ms. Scott is a certified Fitzmaurice Voicework instructor and an assistant professor of voice, speech and acting at Texas Christian University. She is an associate editor for the International Dialects of English Archive (IDEA) website, and serves as a board member of the Voice and Speech Trainers Association.

Karen Murphy (Sue Mengers)- Karen Murphy recently ended a ten month tour of Disney?s Mary Poppins. Karen last appeared on Broadway as Madame Armfeldt in the revival of Stephen Sondheim?s A Little Night Music opposite Bernadette Peters. She received a 2009 Drama Desk nomination for her performance in My Vaudeville Man. Broadway: 9 to 5, All Shook Up, 42nd Street, Titanic, A Christmas Carol (original cast at Madison Square Garden), and King David. Off-Broadway: Zombie Prom (Dramalogue and Encore Awards), Hysterical Blindness, Jerry Herman's Showtune. National Tour: Les Miserables, Wizard of Oz, and White Christmas. She made her debut at NY City Opera in A Most Happy Fella. Recordings: Torchgoddess, My Vaudeville Man, 9 to 5, Zombie Prom, and I Won't Dance (with Steve Ross).

Amphibian Stage Productions is a non-profit theatre company founded in 2000 by three alumni of TCU's Department of Theatre who strive to produce innovative and engaging theatre that inspires new ideas, opens new doors, and increases our understanding of the vast world around us.
