BroadwayWorld.com is proud and excited to announce that it has joined forces with The Metropolitan Room (34 West 22nd Street), one of New York City's leading cabaret venues, to stage a variety show on February 21, 2013 (6:30-9 pm) featuring the winners of the voting now being held on the site and which ends on December 31. More than 3,000 nominations were posted on the site after BroadwayWorld.com announced its first-ever New York Cabaret Awards in early October, and more than 200 performers in 20 categories made the final ballot that is currently being voted on by cabaret fans throughout the New York metro area and beyond.

The 2012 BWW New York Cabaret Award winners will be announced in early January 2013 and winners will be presented with special 2012 BWW Cabaret Award certificates at the Feb. 21 show. Metropolitan Room Managing Partner Bernie Furshpan will host and Stephen Hanks, BWW's lead cabaret reviewer and columnist, will serve as the show's Master of Ceremonies. For reservations, go to: www.metropolitanroom.com/show_right.cfm?id=87846&cart or call 212-206-0440.

"We believe the BroadwayWorld.com New York Cabaret Awards clearly represents BWW's interest in and commitment to the art of cabaret," says Hanks. "We hope the Awards program and the show at the Metropolitan Room helps raise awareness about cabaret and all the great entertainers in that community. So many great performers were nominated for awards, which is proof of the breath of singing and acting talent in New York that unfortunately doesn't get recognized or is supported enough. There were many people nominated who did not make the final ballot so anyone and everyone in the cabaret performing community should be proud of their accomplishments and hopefully will feel gratified that the time, effort, and financial resources they invest in their passion is being acknowledged and rewarded."

Many of the 2012 BWW New York Cabaret Award nominees performed their shows at the Metropolitan Room, including Cabaret Show of the Year candidates Barb Jungr, Carole J. Bufford, Lennie Watts, Lauren Fox, and Shaynee Rainbolt and Donn Trenner. "I'm so excited to have the opportunity to host the first-ever BroadwayWorld.Com New York Cabaret Awards Show," says Furshpan. "It's only fitting that The Metropolitan Room is honoring and showcasing some of the most talented performers around and our staff is truly looking forward to celebrating with the winners on February 21."
