Broadway Philadelphia presents TIME Magazine's #1 Show of the Year, MATILDA THE MUSICAL, at the Kimmel Center's Academy of Music November 17-29, 2015. The first national tour of MATILDA THE MUSICAL is produced by the Royal Shakespeare Company and the Dodgers, and is based on the beloved novel by Roald Dahl (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Fantastic Mr. Fox).

"The Kimmel Center is thrilled to continue our Broadway season with the very first national tour of Matilda," said Kimmel Center President & CEO Anne Ewers. "The musical is based on a treasured children's novel which has been around for decades and we're proud to bring that tradition to life audiences of all ages with a tremendously talented cast."

Winner of 50 international awards, including 4 Tony Awards, and a record-breaking seven Olivier Awards including Best Musical, MATILDA THE MUSICAL is the story of an extraordinary girl who dreams of a better life. Armed with a vivid imagination and a sharp mind, Matilda dares to take a stand and change her destiny.

MATILDA THE MUSICAL is directed by Tony Award winner Matthew Warchus (God of Carnage), with a book by Tony Award-winning playwright Dennis Kelly and music and lyrics by Australian comedian, musician, and composer Tim Minchin. Sets and costumes are by Tony Award winner Rob Howell, with choreography by Peter Darling, orchestrations, additional music and musical supervision by Christopher Nightingale, lighting by Tony Award winner Hugh Vanstone, and sound by Simon Baker.
