A Few Things I Learned at GLEE LIVE
by Robert Diamond - June 01, 2010

I attended the sold-out GLEE Live! final Concert on Sunday night May 31 at Radio City Music Hall and my ears have nearly almost recovered from the ringing noise that I went to bed with...almost.

Here's a few things I learned and observed...

* When you're at a concert with screaming GLEE fans, being 30 feels like 50.

* There were as many people tweeting, Facebooking, text messaging, taking photos and videos as there were screaming. Perhaps that was how they were briefly resting their voices? Perhaps that's how they're used to enjoying music - live or not?

* I'm going to go out on a limb and predict now that if they do the same thing in 2011, it'll be at Madison Square Garden (capacity = 20,000 vs. 6,000).

* There's no doubt that the approximately 30,000 people who attended the 5 sold-out shows at Radio City are amongst our next generation of theatre fans -- the only questions will be what shows and producers harness that energy -- and whether or not they'll appeal to the same demographic.

* There's no doubt that producers are already trying to find a way to get Lea Michele playing (and selling out) FUNNY GIRL on Broadway.

* and ... lastly, this post was brought to you by Advil.
