Bovine Metropolis Theater Presents DENVER'S NEXT IMPROV STAR, 2/16-4/27

This reality show takes the idea of competition, and marries it to cooperation, and the results are spectacular drama and comedy for everyone. Usually in competitions being cutthroat and ruthless seems to be the best way to win. Denver's Next Improv Star at Bovine Metropolis Theater has a different type of competition. In Denver's Next Improv Star contestants not only have to take care of themselves, but they have take care of each other in the show in order to win.

Players will be judged each week on creativity, improv skills, comedic timing, stage presence and a special focus on the expertise of that week's guest judge. The Players have to trust and push themselves while collaborating with their fellow players on stage. This show is an intense gamut of never before imagined challenges that stretch the individual and the group. The result has the comedy of improv and the drama of a reality show.

Every season Denver's Next Improv Star creates a team of improvisers, who must rely on each other even as they compete against each other. "As the seasons progress, the casts have had better group-mind," said host and former contestant Taylor Wingerter. "If they can put the scene ahead of their ambitions, they will be doing themselves a favor."

The cast of Denver's Next Improv Star has to work together to form even closer bonds. "I'm excited, and excited because I know so many of the people in it." said contestant Michelle Marlowe. The contestants are competing against people they know and love, so they have to be supportive.

While you might flip an imagined table in an improvised scene, maintaining agreement in the show and outside the show is essential. It will be Wingerter's job to make sure that everyone is on the same page. "This time I get to be even more supportive, encouraging, and just enjoy the process, " said Wingerter.

"I was going out trying to win and be the funniest and was always in the bottom three, finally I decided to just go out and support my partner," said Jon Jon Lannen, winner from last year's show, season 3.

"He changed his mindset to make his partner look good at all costs and that is how he won," said lead judge, Eric Farone.

Ultimately they key to a successful run at the title of Denver's Next Improv Star is the same as successfully navigating life. Care for others as much or more than you care for yourself, and you'll find that you recieve the same in return. In the end, the person who becomes Denver's Next Improv Star, just might be the most giving person.
