The Boiler Room Theatre, Williamson County's original and longest-running professional theatre company, will stage Neil Simon's Promises, Promises featuring the music of the great Burt Bacharach. The production will run from tonight, June 28th through July 20th at the theatre's iconic namesake venue in the historic Factory at Franklin, 230 Franklin Rd., Building Six, in Franklin, Tennessee.

Based on the Oscar-Winning film The Apartment, this smart and sexy musical transports its audience to Manhattan at the height of the swinging '60s. Chuck Baxter (Patrick Kramer) is a charming young junior executive at Consolidated Insurance Company. In an effort to aid his climb up the company ladder, he lends his apartment to executives for their extramarital assignations in exchange for promises of promotions. Things get complicated, however, when Baxter falls for Fran Kubelik (Megan Murphy Chambers), a waitress at the company cafeteria and the mistress of one of his executives.

Jamey Green, BRT Artistic Director, is such a fan of the show that he knew he had to direct it himself. "It is rarely performed, though I can't imagine why. Neil Simon's book is one of the best ones in all of musical theatre - it manages to be funny and silly while at the same time dealing with more serious themes."

Light as a summertime cocktail, the score by the Academy Award-winning team of Burt Bacharach and Hal Leonard, includes such songs as "I'll Never Love Again" and the swinging title tune. "The music is very representative of the popular music of the day" adds Green. "It's pure Bacharach - very catchy melodies and rhythms - and Billy Ditty's fabulous choreography incorporates pretty much every dance style of the time."

In addition to Kramer and Chambers, the cast includes David Arnold, Phil Perry, Laura Crockarell, Brian Hill, Tyler Evick, Scott Frazier- Maskiell, Lane Wright, Cat Arnold, Christina Candilora, Rosemary Fosse, Christen Heilman Runyon, Tyler Adams, Zach Shockley, Morganne Best and Emily Whitlow. Benjamin T. Van Diepen joins the production team as Musical Director while Katie Delaney provides a kaleidoscope of colorful costumes.
