According to an Equity casting notice, BRING IT ON: The Musical is set to make its world premiere at Atlanta's ALLIANCE THEATRE in early 2011.

A previous announcement made in the New York Times states that Tony Award-winning choreographer Andy Blankenbuehler will direct and choreograph the musical. Tom Kitt and Lin-Manuel Miranda are set to compose the score while Jeff Whitty and Amanda Green will be responsible for the book and lyrics respectively.

"The explosive world of cheerleading heightens so naturally to the stage. I can't imagine a more perfect team to bring this musical to life on stage," says Andy Blankenbuehler. "Jeff Whitty has come up with an enticing, original book, and Lin-Manuel Miranda and Tom Kitt, two of Broadway's most talented composers, are joining their amazing creative forces to write the score. With Amanda Green collaborating on lyrics and musical supervision by Alex Lacamoire, this team is a director and choreographer's dream."

In September, Jeff Whitty spoke to the New York Times and stated that although the musical shares the same title as the Universal film "Bring It On," it will not be a direct adaptation of the movie or any of its sequels.
