Bernadette Peters Guest Stars on Boston Legal, May 8

On May 8th, Bernadette Peters will be featured as a guest star on ABC's "Boston Legal," airing from 10 to 11 PM ET.

In the episode, which is entitled "Guantanamo by the Bay," "Alan Shore sues the United States on behalf of a client who was tortured for two years at a detention camp. Meanwhile, Jerry Espenson begs Shirley Schmidt to let him have his job back at the firm -- despite the fact that he'd once tried to kill her -- and Claire defends a lawyer who committed a sexual assault after hearing a prank radio program proclaiming the world was coming to an end," according to press materials. 

"Boston Legal" stars James Spader as Alan Shore, Julie Bowen as Denise Bauer, Mark Valley as Brad Chase, Rene Auberjonois as Paul Lewiston, Constance Zimmer as Claire Simms and Gary Anthony Williams as Clarence/Clarice Bell, with Candice Bergen as Shirley Schmidt and William Shatner as Denny Crane.

In addition to Peters, who will play Judge Marianna Folger, the episode will feature guest stars Christian Clemenson as Jerry Espenson, Gail O'Grady as Judge Gloria Weldon, Meredith Eaton-Gilden as Bethany Horowitz, Mitch Pilleggi as U.S. Attorney Mark Freestone, TJ Ramini as Benyam Kallah, Leon Russell as Colonel George Hegarty, Ron Canada as Judge Willard Reese, Patrick Renna as Warren Peters, Angela Goethals as Officer Ellen Belott and Peter Jacobson as D.A. Randy Golden.

"Guantanamo by the Bay" was written by David E. Kelley and Andrew Kreisberg and directed by Jim Bagdonas.  A TV parental guideline will be posted closer to airdate.

A two-time Tony-winner for Song and Dance and Annie Get Your Gun, Peters has also received Tony nominations for her performances in the 1972 revival of On the Town, Mack and Mabel, Sunday in the Park with George, The Goodbye Girl and the 2003 revival of Gypsy. She also originated the role of the Witch in Into the Woods, and has appeared in such films as Slaves of New York, Alice, The Jerk and It Runs in the Family. She also appeared in the Carnegie Hall staged concert production of Anyone Can Whistle.  Her latest recording, "Sondheim Etc., Etc.--Bernadette Peters Live at Carnegie Hall (The Rest of It)," is currently available in stores.
