Berkeley Rep's hit production of Tennessee Williams' The Glass Menagerie--starring Rita Moreno as faded Southern belle Amanda Wingfield--has extended its run for a second and final time through July 2nd.

The Glass Menagerie, which began previews on April 6th and opened on April 11th at the California theatre, was previously extended through June 18th.

Moreno plays Amanda, who seeks to keep her family together despite the boredom of son Tom and the grim marital prospects of her daughter Laura. Emily Donahoe (Apparition, Helen Hayes Award-winner for Shakespeare in Hollywood) plays Laura, while Erik Lochtefeld (Metamorphoses) appears as Tom. Terrence Riordan (A Naked Girl on the Appian Way) plays The Gentleman Caller. Les Waters, the artistic director of Berkeley Rep and an Obie Award-winner for Big Love, staged the production.

Moreno has won an Academy Award (for West Side Story), a Tony (for The Ritz), three Emmy Awards (for two episodes of "The Muppet Show" and "The Rockford Files") and a Grammy (for The Electric Company Album). Other film credits include The King and I, Summer and Smoke and Carnal Knowledge, while Broadway credits include The Odd Couple (the female version), Wally's Cafe, The Last of the Red Hot Lovers and The Sign in Sidney Brustein's Window. She was previously seen in the Berkeley Rep production of Master Class.

The show features sets by Scott Bradley, costumes by Lydia Tanji, lighting by Matt Frey and music by Peter Golub.
